Spring Skiing in full swing this week!
Last weekend some of us competed at the first (ever) Freeride comps in New York. We had some of the toughest conditions this season, but everyone put down solid runs and had a blast with what we had available to us. Super stoked on the riding of our athletes and the terrain that both mountains had to offer, looking forward to next season there already. This weekend we have a big group of athletes heading to Jay Peak, for the last competition on the east coast that will count towards JFC qualification. Weather will warm/hot this weekend with lots of sun and rain moving in Sunday afternoon. Make sure to bring sunscreen and wax for them temps!
U12 Championships: Registration opens
TONIGHT at 8pm EST. Entry for this event: first comes-first serve. It is based on the time stamp the athlete gets once you have finished the registration. If you are signing up more than one athlete have two people tackling the signups on two different devices. The normal way to add a second athlete won’t time stamp the first athlete until the second registration is completed. The only thing that is required is to have entered an IFSA comp this season, it’s not based on how the athletes finish during the season. They will wait 72 hours after registration opens before they close the registration window. Once the window is closed that is when they will start to confirm athletes. They will confirm athletes down the list in order of your timestamp. Last year they did let a South American athlete in that wasn’t in timestamp order, so be prepared if they do the same thing again this year.
Important note: A beacon is going to be required for all coaches and athletes to get on to the Cirque at Kirkwood. Not sure if the final venue will be on a piece of the Cirque or not yet for the U12s but keep this in mind. A shovel and probe may be required as well. If an athlete isn’t used to skiing with a backpack use the time, we aren’t competing in the next few weeks to get used to it, in case they must use one in Kirkwood. Let me know if you are having trouble in finding a beacon/ shovel/ probe/ backpack(vest) for your athlete.

Junior Freeride Championships: This is the last weekend to score points for JFCs. Invites will start going out on Tuesday 3/18. Once you have received your invitation you will have 48 hours to accept and register. After 48 hours they will then move down the list until the competition is full. Same information as linked above for LiveHeats and event guide. They will accept athletes after the 48-hour window, then move down the list. Just because you see someone registers doesn’t necessarily mean they will get into the competition. They will only accept/confirm athletes that are qualified to compete.
Important note: A beacon is going to be required for all coaches and athletes to get on to the venues at Kirkwood. A shovel and probe may be required as well. If an athlete isn’t used to skiing with a backpack use the time, we aren’t competing in the next few weeks to get used to it, in case they must use one in Kirkwood.
